What You’ll Be Able to Do
As a CAD Designer, you will be responsible for mechanical, electro-mechanical, and pneumatic designs, primarily for robotic metal finishing applications. You will be working with all levels within our organization, as well as working closely with our customers and vendors. This involves being able to successfully develop productive relationships with customers, set and maintain aggressive schedules, and represent the company favorably. This position offers high levels of independence to the right candidate who demonstrates the desire and ability to self-manage.
Responsibilities
- Adheres to project budget and schedule.
- Executes and documents mechanical engineering designs to project specifications.
- Develops specifications for mechanical, pneumatic, and some controls components.
- Executes and documents design revisions and drawing releases.
- Interfaces with Mechanical and Controls Engineers on all assigned projects.
- Investigates and resolves any historical issues and problems with support from Sales, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Service Department personnel.
- Provides equipment CAD Design support as needed.
- Provides technical input in the development of machine manuals.
Technical & Robotic Experience
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret schematics, prints, diagrams, technical reports, and related memoranda.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals or groups of assembly workers, managers, peers, customers, and vendors.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, percentages, ratios, and trigonometry.
- Ability to reason and apply common sense to carry out instructions given verbally or written.
Experience / Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent work experience consisting of a minimum of five years of experience as a Design Engineer in the machine tool industry.
- A proven ability to prioritize plans of action to accomplish objectives.
- Must be a critical thinker, have initiative, be able to work with minimal supervision and begin projects independently.
- Proficient with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCad software as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.

- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth
- perception and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described below are indicative of what the employee will encounter while performing required duties.
- Employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
- Work may be required in hot conditions during spells of seasonal heat.
